Open-access rail operator Hull Trains has teamed up with First Bus to offer a seamless journey for visitors heading to Yorkshire Wildlife Park via Doncaster Station, with a new integrated service launching 7 April 2025.
The partnership will see Hull Trains passengers arriving at Doncaster able to connect directly to First Bus’ extended 357 service, which now calls inside the park itself – delivering passengers straight to the entrance of one of the UK’s leading wildlife attractions.
The new connection aims to offer a stress-free, car-free travel option for those heading to the park from across Hull Trains’ route, which includes London, Hull, Selby and Grantham. A return service from the park to Doncaster station will help ensure a smooth journey home.
Louise Mendham, Service Delivery Director at Hull Trains, said the collaboration was timed to offer families and tourists a greener and more convenient way to enjoy the attraction ahead of the busy summer season.
“We’re committed to making sustainable travel accessible and stress-free and this partnership offers a fantastic way to explore one of the region’s best attractions without needing a car,” she said.
Labour MP Lee Pitcher, who represents Doncaster East and the Isle of Axholme, welcomed the new connection:
“Whether you’re visiting Nobby the polar bear, Rocco the baby rhino or the newly born lion cubs, you want to maximise your family time at Yorkshire Wildlife Park. This service is a brilliant move – boosting tourism, footfall and the local economy.”
The 357 bus service will run hourly, seven days a week, with family return tickets available for two adults and up to three children. Signage is also being installed to guide passengers from the park entrance to the new dedicated bus stop.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park CEO Cheryl Williams said the link would support the park’s sustainability goals while making it easier for families and visitors to access its wide array of wildlife experiences.
The launch follows Hull Trains’ recent celebration of English Tourism Week, which saw TV personality Jack Marriner-Brown explore the park in a viral video that featured sea lions and red pandas – further building excitement ahead of the new transport link.
Stephen Brito-Coll, Commercial Manager for First Bus, said the operator was proud to help strengthen transport connections across the region:
“By calling inside the Wildlife Park, this direct service will provide improved access to the park for the people of South Yorkshire, and help attract more people into Doncaster.”
The service is expected to be especially popular as families begin planning days out during spring and summer holidays.
