About Class 40s
- Built between 1958 and 1962, over 200 Class 40 locomotives briefly dominated express passenger services on the West Coast Main Line.
- They later handled secondary passenger and freight duties until the final units were withdrawn in the mid to late 1980s.
- Known as “Whistlers,” eight of these locomotives survive today—three of which are owned by CFPS.
Your raffle ticket directly supports the ongoing preservation, maintenance, and restoration of these heritage engines, keeping the spirit of the Whistlers alive for future generations.
