The Class Forty Preservation Society (CFPS) has launched a 7-day New Year’s raffle, running from Monday, 6th January to Sunday, 12th January 2025. All proceeds go directly to restoring and maintaining three Class 40 locomotives—40106, 40135, and D345—ensuring these icons of British rail history continue to thrive.

Top Prize
A PROCAST replica nameplate of former Class 40 Diesel No. 40020, FRANCONIA.

About Class 40s

  • Built between 1958 and 1962, over 200 Class 40 locomotives briefly dominated express passenger services on the West Coast Main Line.
  • They later handled secondary passenger and freight duties until the final units were withdrawn in the mid to late 1980s.
  • Known as “Whistlers,” eight of these locomotives survive today—three of which are owned by CFPS.

Why Enter?
Your raffle ticket directly supports the ongoing preservation, maintenance, and restoration of these heritage engines, keeping the spirit of the Whistlers alive for future generations.

For full details and to enter, visit the CFPS Class 40 Replica Nameplate Raffle – The Class Forty Preservation Society. Good luck!
