Trenitalia c2c, the operator of passenger services between Shoeburyness and London Fenchurch Street, has become an official member of the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA). The move places the rail company among a growing cohort of UK businesses that are formalising workplace responses to domestic abuse and improving support for affected employees.
Why the partnership matters for the rail sector
Domestic abuse can have serious implications for workforce health, safety and productivity. By joining EIDA, Trenitalia c2c gains access to industry-recognised guidance on:
- Policy development – creating clear internal procedures that help staff recognise the signs of abuse and understand the routes to confidential assistance.
- Training and awareness – equipping line managers and colleagues with the knowledge to respond appropriately.
- External signposting – directing employees to specialist organisations capable of offering legal, financial and counselling support.
Executive statements
Abu Siddeeq, Interim HR & Communications Director at Trenitalia c2c, said the rail operator is “leveraging EIDA’s expertise to guide us through the process of developing an effective domestic-abuse framework that will protect and empower our workforce.”
Susan Bright, Chief Executive of EIDA, welcomed the decision: “Employers play a vital role in tackling domestic abuse. c2c’s commitment will not only benefit its own employees but will also encourage other UK rail and transport companies to follow suit.”
