A serving British Transport Police (BTP) officer is due to appear in court this week charged with assault by beating, following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
PC Adrian Young, who is based in London, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 9 April.
The charge relates to an incident that occurred while PC Young was on duty at Camden Road underground station on 22 September 2024, involving a 15-year-old girl. A complaint was submitted to BTP by a witness the following month, prompting the force to refer the matter to the IOPC.
PC Young has been suspended from duty since the incident.
The IOPC has conducted the investigation into the officer’s conduct, leading to the charge being brought. Further details are expected to emerge during court proceedings.
