East Midlands Railway (EMR) has issued a strong advisory to passengers planning to travel on Sunday 27 April, warning of significant disruption and limited capacity due to a combination of factors including:
- Engineering works at London St Pancras
- Large numbers of Nottingham Forest fans travelling to the FA Cup Semi-Final
- London Marathon traffic
What Passengers Need to Know
Due to Network Rail engineering works, London St Pancras Low Level will be closed, meaning Thameslink services will be diverted to the High-Level platforms. As a result, EMR’s Intercity timetable is reduced to just one train per hour on key routes, including:
- Nottingham – London St Pancras
- Sheffield – London St Pancras (via Beighton)
- Corby – London St Pancras
A shuttle service will also run between Kettering and Corby.
Expect:
- Long queues and potential delays
- Severe overcrowding
- No guaranteed seats
- Limited return options if the match goes to extra time
EMR Travel Advice:
- Avoid travelling at peak times:
- From Nottingham: travel after 2pm
- From London: travel before 7pm
- Customers not attending the match are urged to travel on a different day if possible.
- Advance ticket holders can use their ticket on adjacent days (Saturday or Monday) if they wish to avoid disruption.
Philippa Cresswell, EMR’s Customer Experience Director, said:
“Services will be extremely busy on Sunday, 27 April, due to engineering works, the marathon, and Nottingham Forest fans travelling to the FA Cup Semi-Final.
“We advise those not attending the match to travel after 2pm from Nottingham and before 7pm from London to avoid peak times.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience during these engineering works and apologise for any inconvenience.”
